Stephen L. Houff, M.D. | Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Stephen L. Houff is a pioneering hospitalist physician and recognized industry leader. From a solo hospital-based physician practice established in 1993, he built what is now the largest private hospitalist services provider in the nation. As founder and former chairman/CEO of Cogent HMG, Dr. Houff led an organization with over 1,000 clinical providers serving 130 health systems in 30 states. He has also served as a managed-care medical director at Harrington Benefits, a large third-party administrator serving self-insured employers.
Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Houff completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Matthew M. Richardson | Chief Operating Officer
Matthew M. Richardson, who joined Aris Radiology as COO in 2017, provides leadership and management support to physician practice operations and client support teams. He most recently served as senior vice president, Physician Operations, for Surgery Partners, with overall responsibility for strategic physician partnerships, relationship management and financial stewardship for the company’s national network of employed providers. Prior to joining Surgery Partners, Mr. Richardson served as vice president, Physician Practice Operations, Division V, at Community Health Systems.
With over a decade of experience related to payor business operations, Mr. Richardson was previously director of Claims Operations and Process Improvement for Centene Corporation, and administrator of the Georgia managed-care program, Peach State Health Plan. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Kentucky.
Mark Stevens | Chief Operating Officer
Mark Stevens joined Aris through its 2016 acquisition of USTeleradiology, where he had been COO since 2005. He provides day-to-day leadership and management of staffed hospital and teleradiology operations. Mr. Stevens leads a team of 54 employees with fully redundant teleradiology centers in Atlanta and Tampa, and has successfully launched and managed client and physician relationships for our onsite radiology practices at facilities across the United States (ranging in size from 25-bed Critical Access Hospitals to 500-bed Level 1 Trauma Centers).
Mr. Stevens has presented on the benefits of integrated onsite radiology and teleradiology services at events on behalf of the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) and the Association of California Health Districts (ACHD). Prior to joining UST, he was a director of operations in the financial services sector working in mergers and acquisitions, hedge funds and structured finance.
Chad L. Calendine, M.D. | Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Chad Calendine joined Aris in early 2015 as chief medical officer. A board-certified musculoskeletal radiologist, he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1998 from the University of Tennessee at Memphis, and then completed his residency and fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology with Emory University Hospital. Before attending medical school, he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from Freed-Hardeman University. Dr. Calendine serves as the current president of Premier Radiology and the Saint Thomas Imaging Network. He is the CEO of Advanced Diagnostic Imaging and Advanced Health Partners, a large multi-specialty physician group in Nashville. In addition, he serves as co-chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) GRID Committee.
Francis Ferraro, M.D. | Chief Medical Officer, California
Dr. Francis Ferraro joined Aris through its acquisition of USTeleradiology (UST) in 2016. Prior to founding UST, he led teleradiology operations and served on the executive management committee of Sheer Ahearn, at that time the largest radiology practice in the country. Board-certified in diagnostic radiology, Dr. Ferraro also holds a Certificate of Additional Qualifications and Board Certification in neuroradiology. He earned his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and his Doctor of Medicine at New York University, and then completed his internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA. Dr. Ferraro also completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal MRI and in mammography at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Michael Davis | Chief Financial Officer
Michael Davis joined Aris Radiology as CFO in May 2017, bringing more than 30 years of healthcare financial expertise to the position. Specializing in private equity-sponsored organizations from pre-transaction to post-transaction activities, Mr. Davis has a diverse background in mergers and acquisitions, capital financing activities, operational budgeting, financial reporting and internal controls. Prior to joining Aris, he served as executive vice president for Advanced Recovery Systems, LLC, a private equity-sponsored multi-state addiction treatment company. He has also served as executive vice president and CFO for Behavioral Centers of America, Essent Healthcare and Behavioral Healthcare Corporation; as CFO for United Medical Center, owned by the District of Columbia; and as vice president of financial operations for Community Health Systems.
Mr. Davis has a Master of Business Administration from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science in finance and accounting from the University of Florida. He is an advanced member of Healthcare Financial Management Association and a recipient of the Folmer Award.
Shannon Shirk | Chief Information Officer
Shannon Shirk builds tech teams that work. Our bilingual chief information officer is a Brigham Young University graduate with an extensive mix of professional competencies, like software planning, content development, sales, software product engineering, and enterprise-level IT servicing for high-tech and healthcare companies. For more than 10 years, he has successfully built and motivated global teams for industry heavyweights — like Ness Technologies, where he was vice president of the Software Engineering Group, or emids, where he was vice president of Healthcare Technology Solutions prior to joining Aris. But he also has an obvious passion for people, which is what makes him ideally suited to direct vision and strategy for our world-class technology teams.
Lisa Zaucha | Director of Human Resources
Lisa Zaucha, whose human resources management experience spans more than 20 years, joined Aris in 2009. Prior to this, she served as an HR generalist with King’s Medical Company, a radiology solutions company that partners with hospitals, and owns and operates multi-modality medical imaging centers.
Ms. Zaucha holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a Master of Business Administration in human resource management from Columbia Southern University.
Robert Isaacs | Director of Operations
Robert Isaacs joined Aris through its acquisition of USTeleradiology. As director of operations, he works directly with clients to ensure that their workflow needs and service expectations are met, while managing the operations staff and ensuring the efficiency of operational processes. Mr. Isaacs joined UST in 2006 as a radiologist assistant and has more than 10 years’ experience in teleradiology. He holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Georgia Tech and a Master of Public Policy from Georgia State University.
Linda Johnson | Director of Physician Services
Linda Johnson joined Aris through its acquisition of USTeleradiology. She provides day-to-day leadership and management of the 10-employee Physician Services Department, which includes all aspects of credentialing and scheduling for both staffed hospitals and teleradiology sites. While involved with UST since its inception, Ms. Johnson officially joined the company as executive vice president in 2007. Prior to this, she worked in management positions in the financial industry, including serving on the installation team of a $5.5 billion global leader in financial services technology solutions with more than 12,000 clients.
